Weekend disappearance

I was whisked away at the weekend for my birthday celebrations to a mystery location.  Firstly, we headed to the village of Broadway – somewhere new to me, but a very nice, quaint village, with some of the most expensive kitchen accessory shops I’ve seen this side of Fifth Avenue.

But then we headed to the meal and our overnight destination – The Pudding Club.  For those not in the know, here’s a brief description from the website.

In the 1980’s it seemed as though such delights as Jam Roly Poly, Syrup Sponge, Sticky Toffee Pudding and Spotted Dick were rarities in the face of seductive competition from Black Forest Gateau and Frozen Strawberry Cheesecake.

The Pudding Club and its members can now proudly claim that because of their efforts the great British Pudding has reclaimed an enthusiastic following throughout the country – and beyond.

It lived up to its name, the meal itself was great, and the puddings were truly delicious, we were rolled to our rooms afterwards.  I can strongly recommend the place for a weekend, or even just an overnight out, being only an hour from Birmingham, and with great service and staff.  Even someone with a chocolate allergy like I could appreciate the place (especially as they provided after-dinner fudge instead of chocolate mints!)

We’ll be there again soon.
