Unintended consequences

When I came into work at 7:30 this morning, there was no email, and no printing facilities.  So much for hitting the ground running.

But what do people do when there’s no email and no printing – the answer appears to be look at blogs!  I’ve recorded my second best ever hit rate today on my blog, over 80 hits before 9am.

The minor snag of no email aside, I’ve hit the ground running.  I’m just having a bit of a breather and a salad before my first student meeting of the new year – apart from the odd question in corridors.

How do I feel looking forward to 2008, and the next semester?  It’s going to be an interesting time again I’m sure, with involvement in a new degree as well as the course director responsibilities.  Teaching will no doubt be as intense as ever, and there’s some disappointment that all of my MSc students I’m supervising will not submit in January, but are taking an extension to May.

Still, it’s good to be back, and to catch up with work colleagues.
