Marking slog

I’m at home marking today, after taking a four day break without even reading work email – unheard of for a long time.

The marking is going slowly, for a number of reasons.  I’ve got Windows PC problems, meaning a reboot is required after every ‘tinker’ to see if I’ve fixed the problem.  I’ve removed all the anti-spyware, and other applications that I can find during start up, to no avail.  Once it’s up and running it’s fine, but taking 10 – 15 minutes to boot!

I’m also fighting a cold, and whilst I’m OK at the moment, it does mean that I’m not running at full power for the first couple of hours in the morning, when I’m at my most productive.

But at least there’s not a flood of emails from work at the moment – many lecturers are off for Easter, and those that are back are keeping their heads down.

I’ve just heard through email that they’re replacing all the printers in the Faculty – I’m sure that this will be the end of all my recent printer/copier problems… but then again I’m always an optimist when it comes to technology.

Back to the marking.  I’ll need to up my pace for the work I’ve got coming in from Week 10 (first week back after Easter) if I’m not going to spend all of my time marking!
